The Coimbatore Corporation has set up a state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Coimbatore, to treat domestic wastewater generated by the city. The STP has the capacity of treating 100 million liters of wastewater per day. The plant employs advanced technology to treat wastewater and convert it into reusable water. The treated water is then used for non-potable purposes such as flushing, gardening, and washing vehicles. The plant also helps in reducing the pollution in the nearby water bodies and helps in maintaining the ecological balance. It also helps in conserving the water resources in the city.

The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation (CMC) operates the Coimbatore wastewater treatment plant. The plant is located in the heart of the city, close to Singanallur Lake. The plant is used to treat the sewage effluent before it is discharged into the lake. The plant has a capacity of treating 45 million liters of sewage effluent per day. The plant uses advanced technologies such as trickling filters and activated sludge processes for sewage treatment. The treated water is used for irrigation and industrial purposes. The plant also monitors the quality of the treated water and has online monitoring systems in place to ensure that the water meets the required standards.
